Tree Campus USA

Tree Campus USA
This Japanese Magnolia was planted on February 15, 2013, in celebration of ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁÏÍø’s first recognition as a Tree Campus USA by the Arbor Day Foundation. Japanese Magnolias are prized for their beauty, being among the earliest to bloom each spring with striking, large flowers that are impossible to miss.
Tree Campus USA status is awarded to campuses that demonstrate a commitment to tree preservation and actively incorporate trees into student learning through service-learning projects. ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁÏÍø is proud to be one of only 14 colleges and universities in Georgia to earn this distinction, setting us apart from more than 90 others in the state.
One of the biggest challenges in maintaining Tree Campus USA status is providing meaningful service-learning opportunities for students each year. At ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁÏÍø, examples of these projects include creating this tour, planting trees both on campus and in the community, and developing the Pinetum, a showcase of native pine species.
The Pinetum is located on the south side of the library and is our next stop.
